Office 365 (Advanced)

  • Distribution Groups and Advanced Exchange features
  • Mail flow, send and receive connectors and their features

Website Creation (Basic)

  • Wordpress Basics
  • Uploading pictures
  • Cropping and manipulating images for use in websites
  • Text Layout and hyper link creation
  • Page and Post creation
  • Plugin system
  • Theme downloading and installation

This basic course is a fantastic way to get into using Wordpress and learning how to design a professional website. Working with cropping pictures, uploading various types of media, creating pages and posts on your website. This course will cover the differences between blog and full websites. You will learn the basics of how to secure your website and obtain the skills to deal with hosting providers to know what your buying and why. This course is extremely productive for people that have zero website creation knowledge that will leave with the ability to actually create and maintain a website. There is no coding knowledge required. Basic computer skills is recommended but is not required as the instructors will work with you on every aspect of creating your site.

Website Development (Intermediate)

  • Working with web languages (PHP, Java, HTML)
  • Understanding of different platforms (Wordpress, Joomla etc)
  • Working with Div, and touching on CSS
  • Touching on all Website Basic course topics

In this course you will learn the concepts of the various web languages used currently, their features and why they are used today. CSS (Cascading style sheets) and how to work with them to tailor your website, All of these languages are extremely deep and have college courses, this is a quick way to get started working with these languages and to determine if that is the path you would like to go down. In this course you will create simple PHP and work with simple CSS scripts to build your site.

This course will cover the differences in different platforms and what you can expect to find when deploying on different platforms and different frameworks. In example Wordpress vs Joomla and those vs other online cookie cutter frameworks like google website builder. This course covers alot more than listed here but this should help in understand the idea this course will cover.

Website Development (Advanced)

  • Installing Wordpress on IIS, MySQL, PHP and fastcgi
  • Folder structure permissions and security
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • Basic Plugin Creation and Basic Theme Creation
  • Querying data and outputting data to the page from mysql

In this advanced course you will learn to pull data from MySQL with PHP and display that data on a web page in a formatted way that is easy to use. You will install MySQL, MySQL workbench and create your own database. You will create your own IIS website and download and deploy WordPress to IIS. You will create a WordPress configuration file and place it, and finally open your website in a browser and finish the WordPress installation. This course will cover the concept of folder structure security and what files may or may not need to be visible and run for users viewing the website. 

After that the course will go through using different languages, plugins, themes, creating simple plugins and themes, cover SEO basics and how to get your site listed through engines.  This course will cover website backups, exporting databases to dump or single file locations and the differences. File upload limits and PHP configuration to permit larger file size uploads along with many other helpful PHP configuration options.

 

Introduction to the World Wide Web (Beginner)

  • This course will teach you the basics of how the web works
  • Understanding the difference between web sites, email and how they work.
  • Browsers and various other web applications and how they work
  • Favorites, Bookmarks, and the like
  • Desktop versions and Mobile Versions of websites

This course is designed for people that struggle with the web. After this course you will have a understanding at how the web works and how to navigate around in it, in a safe and productive way. You will have knowledge and understanding to chose the right antivirus and to spot pages that might get you infected. This course will show some of the common tactics that the hackers/spammers use to target and victimize people.

This course uses illustrations to show the way people connect to servers and the flow of the internet, giving a graphical representation of the way the web flows and works. 1 on 1 training is available upon request for this course.

In this course you will learn the hardware components that make up current personal computers. You will learn what each hardware component does and how it is used today along with the variations of said hardware components and why they are used. You will learn what to purchase or assemble based on the needs of the user, in example if a user runs intense graphical applications like games or picture creation/drawing. This course will cover the mainstream hardware and what you can expect to pay for them. This course will cover different software applications for testing hardware, deploying operating systems and the pro’s and con’s for the various operating systems. No computing experience is needed for this course.

  • How to assemble your first network
  • DHCP and the basic network services required for today’s networks
  • Do’s and Don’ts for network computing
  • Understanding Network Lingo

This course covers the basics of networking. How to setup a network and the required services for basic networking.
